At Burberry, we live and breathe our values. Being Open and Caring is part of what makes us special.
It has been heartening to see how many of our global colleagues have rallied round and responded to help those in need. We want to build on the momentum and work together to create an even bigger impact.
How to Get Involved
Donate & Fundraise:
Make a personal donation to one of our three charity partners below and Burberry will double match it.
Join our Community Champions network and get your team together to organise a team fundraising activity. Find some activity ideas and checklist below.
For UK or US employees, 100% of sales from the employee sale in April will be donated to our three charity partners.
Register:
If you're planning a team fundraising activity, please fill out this form detailing your plans in advance of your event for Responsibility Team approval and support.
Registering your activity in advance will ensure that it will be considered for double match funding.
Share Your Story:
Engage with colleagues and share your stories on our Burberry All Yammer group using the hashtag #BestOfBurberry
Don't forget to add some photos to your post. Jonathan will be sharing his favourite stories at the global townhall at the end of the month.
As part of our April Month of Giving, for every amount raised or donated, Burberry will double match this, equally distributing the amount among our three charity partners. Add to our 'totaliser' by donating directly below.
The British Red Cross teams in Ukraine have helped more than 750,000 people since the conflict began. This includes distributing 400 tonnes of vital aid, including food, blankets, hygiene parcels and warm clothes.
Save the Children teams in Ukraine are distributing clothing and blankets, providing cash and vouchers assistance to families to meet basic needs, offering vital mental health support and providing access to education.
UNICEF are working at the borders of Ukraine’s neighbouring countries, providing access to clean water, health care services and other critical support for children and families on the move.
Alternatively, you can donate to a different charity supporting refugees and send a screenshot of your donation to matchfunding@burberry.com for it to be double matched with a donation to our charity partners.
Donation Impact
£10 could provide a hygiene kit to a family of five, giving them supplies to stay healthy for a month
£20 could provide five blankets to families taking shelter
£30 could provide 3,600 chlorine tablets to ensure that families have access to clean, safe water
£80 could help pay for school supplies to help at least 20 children continue their education in an emergency.
£100 could provide sleeping mats for 66 people who have been forced from their homes
£200 could provide a fully equipped first aid kit, including supplies, to a first aider treating those wounded
Activity Checklist
- Pick a charity to support. You can fundraise for Burberry’s three charity partners or any charity supporting asylum seekers, refugees, and other displaced individuals more broadly.
- Choose your date in April. We are encouraging all colleagues to make the most of our April Month of Giving so you will be met with flexibility when scheduling your activity. To maximise engagement, double check when people in your team have taken leave.
- Spread the word. Once you’ve got a date, let everyone know about it. Send emails. Everyone in your team should know about your activity.
- Get support. Whatever kind of event you’re planning, ask your colleagues to help. More people equals more ideas, more contacts to invite and less for you to do solo. Contact volunteering@burberry.com for additional support or guidance.
- Register your activity (here) when you have a plan in place. This will ensure your activity is eligible and approved for a double matched donation by Burberry.
- Make donating easy. Share our dedicated JustGiving page. People often want to give even if they can’t make your event, so make it easy as possible for them to donate. Adding a fundraising target makes a big difference too.
- Share your story. Don't forget to share your story on Burberry All using #BestOfBurberry.
Activity Ideas
Are you thinking of coming together as a team to raise funds? View our activity checklist and team fundraising ideas below:
Virtual Cook-along
Get together online and get cooking to raise funds for a charity! This is a great opportunity for everyone to engage in a live experience and produce a meal, which creates a sense of team accomplishment. Create a menu together and purchase ingredients in advance. Family members can also join in if you wish!
Step Challenge
Get up and moving with this fundraiser. The 10,000 step challenge requires you to walk 10,000 steps a day for a length of time you decide on, which can range from a week to a month. Have your supporters accept pledges on how long they’ll last and have them use their Fitbits or pedometers to monitor their steps.
Teach your Talent
Are you a yoga master, a crafting extraordinaire, or just really great at something and fancy a skill-share? Host a 'masterclass' to share your special skill with your team and get them to join in!
Talent Contest
You might not be able to sing your heart out on the dancefloor right now, but that doesn’t mean you can’t share your creative talents with your colleagues. Ask people to pay to take part in a talent contest, watch everyone perform online, and ask your audience to make a donation to choose their favourites. It’s a great way to raise funds (and to find out all kinds of things you didn’t know your colleagues could do!).
